Girls who play girls... it's Not what you're thinking!!

Being a gamer girl I've always been annoyed that gaming companies never had very many female characters for me to play, the excuse always being, "It's a male dominated area....blah blah blah". And now there are over-sized boobs all over the screen with bodies that are incredibly un-proportionate to the human figure, and I'm still getting, "It's a male dominated area... blah blah blah." lol - what?

Fav games before World of Warcraft:: 1. Duke Nukem (the originals & FPS versions); 2. Blood 1 & 2; 3. Heretic & Hexen; 4. Quake; 5. Doom (Doom 3 I'd tie with #1)

I always play a female when I can, because I am a female and I'm proud to be one of those rare girls that can actually play a game with more then 2 actions and not totally suck and occasionally kick your ass. Yes, I Will Cheap Shot / Consecrate / Whirlwind a fuzzy bunny hopping in the woods!! And I actually get a little annoyed when a male player offers to help me with a quest/money/gear purely because I'm a girl - I want to earn it. Not that I won't accept all donations. ;P And of course mutual help for power levelling. (You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours) It also drives me absolutely crazy when it's assumed that I must not know what I'm supposed to do, again, because I'm a girl and extra instructions (in a soft caring voice of course, like speaking to a child) are given. O-M-F-G Admittedly that's not happened too often to me and usually only by hard core uber geek players.

I've read a few articles written by female gamers who also hating this treatment, (not to mention the total geek boy freak out when a girls voice pipes up on vent), have used male characters so they can be treated like one of the guys.

Seeing as that I'm attached to all my characters I've found it really hard to play a male character for very long... I play a lot with friends, and my husband, so if I feel the need to flirt.. well, I simply can't bring myself to do it. Because, (not that there's anything wrong with that), I can't be apart of the male/male flirting - it just doesn't work for me. For that matter, I also can't stomach the idea of being playful with my husband if he's playing one of his female characters, girl/girl flirting also doesn't work for me. I know, any male readers just "woke up". lol - Pervs

And to the BF's & Hubbies out there, with GF's / Wives that get upset you're playing so many female characters.... Hello, Jiggling T&A right here!! (No not me, your significant others!!) That's what's going through their minds. It's a hard line to balance, ultra naggy/bitchy feeling you're being cheated on super jealous depressed he doesn't want me, OR try to be cool and ignore all those psychotic voices running through our cute little female heads. lols - To compromise maybe make them wear really ugly miss-matched clothing, or kill them a lot to make the RL woman in your life feel better. Yes we do get a little vindictive when it comes to our men. /dagger eyes
